DAY 6 UNEXPECTED LINEAGE: A Genealogy Full of Scandal
Jesus’ family tree reads like a spiritual soap opera.
Matthew 1:1–17 - I won’t bore you quoting all of the genealogy here that features names like Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba; not exactly who polite religion would have chosen.
God could’ve edited the story. He could’ve cleaned up the line, polished the bloodline, made the Messiah come through a “respectable” family. Something the Royal Family would be proud of.
But… He didn’t.
Why? Because Jesus came to redeem what we hide. If God isn’t embarrassed by your story, why are you? Why do we suffer from things like comparisonitis? Imposter syndrome? Not enough-ness? Perfectionism?
An even deeper question, why do we have the audacity to believe that we could even have it within our power to mess up God’s plan?
🔍 Where are you still trying to “pretty up” what God is actually trying to redeem?
Your past isn’t a liability; it’s an invitation to redemption. It is a tool that God wants you to use in His plan / calling on your life. With God, your pain is never in vain. We can be devastated and incapacitated by all the ways we have fallen short & disappointed God… or we can use it… better yet… let God use it for His Glory!

🙏 Father, thank You for refusing to sanitize the story. Redeem every messy chapter of my lineage and my life and use it for your Glory. Amen.
