An Unexpected Journey (with a side of grace, grit, and gallows humor)
If you had told me that 2025 would involve learning the ins and outs of prosthetics, the choreography of post-BKA showers, and the sacred art of finding levity in limb loss… I would’ve blinked, tilted my head, and asked, “Wait… what genre are we in?”
On February 11th, my husband underwent an emergency amputation. BKA (below the knee amputation) Life rerouted us faster than GPS could keep up. What we expected to be an average week turned into a chapter we didn’t see coming… and certainly didn’t ask to write.
But here we are. In the middle of a story that’s still unfolding. Standing on ground that feels both broken and holy.
This space… Hopportunities & Holy Ground… is where I’ll share the real, the raw, and the ridiculous. Because there’s been a lot of all three.
We’ll laugh. (Because we must.). We’ll cry. (Because we do.)
And we’ll find our footing… one hop, one hallelujah, one medical appointment, one paperwork packet - at a time.
This isn’t about being strong all the time. It’s about being real. It’s about witnessing the sacred in the mess, and making space for hope where there once was only holding on.
So welcome to the sidestep (or.. side hop), the detour, the divine disruption.
Pull up a chair, bring your whole self, and let’s walk—or hop—this thing out together.
